Objectives

The measure should reduce the effects of an expected raise of the tidal range, induced by the planned fairway deepening. The main target of the measure is to decrease the tidal range and thus the upstream sediment transport. Furthermore the long term loss of sediment in the mouth of the Elbe estuary that occurs irrespectivly of the planned deepening of the fairway should be mitigated.
